July OMG

July 2, 2018 Ana Mo Shoshin

Fabric storage is a problem in our house. We always seem to have more fabric than we know what to do with. Not a terrible problem! This One Monthly Goal for me is to find some good fabric storage options and declutter and organize. I'd like to have the majority of my fabric neatly put away by the end of July.

This is an especially important goals for me this month as I will be taking a big step back from sewing for the rest of the year. Even though I'm putting sewing on the back burner, I want to make sure that my resources are available to me if inspiration strikes .

June OMG

For the first months of the year I had the same One Monthly Goal and I still haven't completed it. I thought about keeping with it this month, but I thought I would take a break and make a goal that would, hopefully be easier to accomplish.

Last month part of my hiatus from this blog was also a break from the Mad Cat Quilts Block Of the Month in May. For June I want to get back into it so I'm making creating two MCQBOM blocks my June OMG.

So far, in 2018, I still haven't completed any OMG Goals:

April OMG

You know that feeling when you are soooo motivated, and yet utterly incapable of getting stuff done? I feel like that has been me with OMG this year. And kinda with quilting in general.

What do you do when you feel that way??

Do you keep plugging along, working on the same projects, but not getting anything done? Or do you switch it up?

I guess I'm gonna keep it up for another month. I'm gonna keep the same goal I've had all year so far. Let's see if April is my month.

March OMG

Still plugging away at getting this scrappy little quilt finished. March will be the month!!

I made a ton of progress on this one in February after not working on it as diligently as I should have in previous months. I really want to see this one get finished this month and early if possible. Catching up on some sewing goals are a priority for me in March!!

February OMG

Last month, I endeavored to finish one of two small quilts as the first OMG (One Monthly Goal) of the new year. I was able to finish one top, so finishing this scrappy little quilt is really important for me this month!

I still have to baste, quilt, bind, label and gift this quilt. I have a plan for the quilting and the small size should make this a doable goal!

January 2018 OMG

I'm way behind on two quilts I was supposed to complete. Finishing one of these will be the first One Monthly Goal of 2018!!

I still have to baste these quilts, quilt them, label and gift. These are both small and finishing one of them should be a doable goal!!

OMG December

Although I did have a finish in November, I did not complete my November OMG. It was a month that I thought I would get a lot done, but it all went by so fast! December promises to be just as hectic, but I'm still hoping to get a lot done on a little ladder quilt that I've been working on.

That's a vague One Monthly Goal, but I'm gonna go with it!

OMG October

I think only the most simple goals are achievable in my quilting life this year. And even those have been tough! For Oct, I would love to get the mystery quilt basted. I feel like this is the most simple goal I can come up with.

I should have had this quilt finished months ago, but I'm really hoping to get it done this month. This OMG is the first step.

OMG September Finish - A Top

I don't like to post quilt tops, or flimsies, but this being only my second OMG (One Monthly Goal) finish in 2017, I felt it was a special occasion!

I linked the few Honey Pot Bee blocks that I completed together to make this little baby quilt top. I love this weird 1980s hotel style fabric that my brother in law gave me and am excited to see it as such a main attraction.

In 2017, I haven't had too many finishes, but I do have quite a few quilt tops. I think it's just about time for a basting party!

OMG September

OK, so I technically missed the cut off for the September OMG Goal link up. But I'm still making a goal and trying to accomplish it in Sept.

This month, I'm rolling over last month's goal and will sew the few Honey Pot Bee I completed (and liked) into a little top. Easy, right? We'll see!

OMG August

Man, my OMG track record for 2017 is abysmal. But I won't give up!

What I am giving up on is Molli Sparkles' Honey Pot Bee. Although this is a great quilting bee, the last few months I haven't wanted to make any of the blocks. For this month's OMG I want to turn the blocks I did make into a quilt top.

Not only did I not finish June's OMG, I didn't touch it! But for July, it's time to get down to business.

This WIP is time sensitive, so for OMG July, I need to get the top and bottom completed, the quilt basted and figure out how to quilt it!

Oh brother, I was this close to finishing my April goal! And yet... it didn't get done. I've been flitting from project to project lately and not finishing anything! My OMG2017 list is looking pretty abysmal.

OMG April

Here we are at the end of the 3rd month of OMG2017, and I haven't had a singe finish! Yikes. Maybe I'm choosing too lofty goals. So for April, I'm picking an easy one. I started this little quilt top using scraps from another top I'm building. For April, I'd Like to finish just the top.

That goal seems easy enough and I'd really like to get it done. There's no rush on this one, it's not even on my Q2 FAL list, so that should take some pressure off. But I think this will make a perfect little baby quilt some day.

March OMG Goal

OK, I'm 0 for 2 this year so far. I'm choosing the same project as last month, partly bc I'm stubborn, but partly it's bc I really want to get this one done. So, instead of only the quilting being added as my OMG, I want to complete the mat. I did work on it a bit during February, but I also flitted about and touched on many projects.

This mat is on my FALQ1 so there's another reason to get it done. Here's hoping I get Tom's Mat finished this month! Here's my monthly tally:

OMG February

Well, January was productive for me with finishes, but sadly not my OMG finish. I didn't even pick it up. (Losing the thread, quite literally, had me disheartened. But this month I plan to purchase a new spool to get back on track).
Anyway, for my FebOMG, I want to quilt the mat I started for Tom. All the cats are laying in front of radiators and I don't see that changing this month, so they might as well have some mats to make them more comfortable. I'd like to finish the mat, but let's set small, achievable goals.

I want to keep a little running tab on what goals I choose and the goals I finish for this year's OMG.

... is new again!

Time for a new year of OMG but I'm starting off with an old goal. This month, I would like to finish quilting (at very least) the Maybe Lyz Quilt. This one might be a tricky goal bc I seem to have miss placed the thread I'm using.

I finished my DecOMG goal, so let's start the new year off on a roll. Linking up with Elm Street Quilts.
