Mad Cat Garden | February

March 12, 2020 Ana Mo Shoshin

February saw little action in the garden, but lucky for us, the groundhog predicted an early spring!! We have seen some buds springing up and the days started getting longer and warmer. Our blueberry bushes all started showing early signs of growth.

This wild kitchen onion I planted seems to be doing really well. I’m excited to plant more if I have onions past their prime, and to try it with potatoes too. I don’t know the appropriate time to dig this fella up to see how oniony it has gotten, but we will eventually need to move it, I think.

Our compost has been too cold to turn, but I’m hoping in the coming months we can turn it and utilize some of the good earth it’s produced for our beds.

Next to the compost, someone has been using this little throughway.

Feb was still too chilly for fires, but I’m hoping in the early spring we can get out to arrange the wood pile and have a few.

Most of our early propagated plants died inside. But our jackfruit is going strong!

As expected, February didn’t see too much movement in the garden. March might be a totally different story. What did your winter garden look like?
